The diversity in paper objects is large: hangings, letters, drawings, gouaches, pastels, watercolors, prints and cards. Our expertise has certain boundaries that we will always tell you. But in some cases we are really good: for example, the treatment of paper that is affected by iron gall ink, which can be both drawings and archival material. After the treatment, the iron in the ink not only neutralized but the paper also strengthened. Cleaning paper with dry methods like using aqueous methods for our daily work. Also, the strengthening of the paper and providing a proper storage room are important aspects in the preservation of collections. Retouching of the paper can play a role in the appreciate view of a work of art or a work of historical interest. The object is thus in esthetiche sense again ‘readable’.
